A True Gifting Boutique
Interior Designs
This is a project truly based on giving. When I was invited to offer my construction knowledge and design abilities to create the interior of this boutique, I jumped at the chance. Hands Around the Plainoffers many interesting items for sale and the profits are used to support The Bridge, which provides rural transitional housing for women and children who are homeless or near homeless in Northwest Iowa. This space was formerly an auto parts store and needed some real help.
It required major interior renovations on a budget. I would not have thought this would be possible if it were not for the volunteers that provided all the labor. The design was possible because we broke down the building to its simplest form then embellished it with lighting and natural finishes. Exterior work consisted of removing a bricked up garage door opening and inserting new windows. These windows then provided the natural soft north light into the space. Images © Tom Becker
